Artist Statement

I am interested in the ways architecture shapes perception, memory, and the body. Rather than thinking of space as a backdrop, I approach it as an active force that influence how we move, look, and understand ourselves. A doorway, a curtain, a corridor, or the corner of a room can carry traces of previous gestures and encounters, continuing to affect those who pass through it.

Working across painting, printmaking, photography, text, and spatial installation, I construct situations that invite viewers to slow down and become aware of these often unnoticed relationships. The mediums are not separate disciplines, each extend the same inquiry into how bodies inhabit space and a space, in turn, inhabit us. Paintings and photographs retain an architectural sensibility, while installations become environments that unfold through movement and duration rather than objects to be observed from a distance.

Recurring elements such as thresholds, curtains, fragments, walls and photographs appear throughout my work. They are not symbols to be decoded but devices that interrupt habitual ways of seeing. I am drawn to moments when an image refuses to fully disclose itself, when a space can only be understood through navigation, or when presence is sensed through what is absent.

​My practice ultimately asks how experience is shaped by the constant exchange between bodies, memory, and the built environment. Through each project, I seek to create encounters in which looking becomes slower, perception becomes embodied, and space reveals itself as something continually produced through our movement within it.
